Monroe County Church Fire

"Definitely Arson"

Atapproximately 3:05 Sunday morning (9/6), routine patrols by the Frisco City Police Department discovered a fire at a church building known as New Start Ministry and Counseling on Bowden Street in Frisco City.  The Frisco City Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and reported moderate damage to the structure.  A subsequent investigation determined the fire to have been deliberately set.  "This fire was definitely arson," according to Deputy State Fire Marshal Ken Smith who worked the scene along with agents from the Frisco City Volunteer Fire Department, the Frisco City Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.  No injuries were reported and no arrests made at this time although the investigation continues.
